The location of Broadchurch is set upon a beach. This could be because
The body language of the actor that is playing the detective shows he is calm about the situation. You can tell this by the way he is walking and his facial expression. The fact his is on a beach could suggest that the murder took place here or I took place elsewhere and this is where the body was dumped.
The Building they are sitting in gives of an expression that the person is either old or the are boring. I get this because they have beige walls, lamps and pillows and the wall is brown. On the desk near the sofa there is some flowers and a couple of cards. This suggests that there is a birthday or something has gone bad. The way the person is sitting like he is praying or he is informing the woman that something is going to happen in a broad manner. Someone is burning an image of the boy that has been murdered as if he was trying to hide something or if the fact of having the pictures of him would just remind him that he gone and theres nothing he could do.

Low-key lighting is used in many scenes of the Broadchurch trailer, this helps set the atmosphere as dangerous, sad or mysterious. There are no happy facial expressions on any of the characters which suggests that this show includes rather sad themes. There are scenes where the characters look very upset and are crying which also helps show that this is an emotional scene. There are scenes of a church which could suggest there could be a funeral which could be due to murder as we see police tape in the beginning of the trailer. Some of the characters are wearing smart uniforms which suggests their importance in the show. Their uniforms could mean they are of importance in the show. In one of the scenes a man is sitting on a sofa, his body language suggests that something bad has happened. The man’s hands are positioned as if he is praying which could link to religion or death. The room he is sitting in has very neutral colours, the walls, lampshade and pillow are beige and the sofa is brown which suggests the person that lives there is boring and reserved, possibly an elderly character. On the table there are flowers and two cards which suggests an occasion has happened recently like someone’s birthday.
A scene shows police cars rushing along a beach. A beach is usually associated with family and fun although the police cars contradict this in this scene as they could suggest crime, possibly murder. The weather in this scene is dull and cloudy which could suggest something miserable has happened.
A photo of a child is being burned, this could suggest the person in the photo is unloved, unwanted or even dead. The fire suggests that whoever is burning the photo is angry.
A dark scene is shown with many candles and flowers piled up. This could mean that someone has died here and people are showing their respect towards them. The low-key lighting helps portray the sadness this death has created.
