Sound

  1. The different sounds and music help construct the situation in which the characters are in. For example, the music and the sound of falling objects helps to add tension to the scene, as the characters search for shelter.

    1. This is a good start Filip but I think you could have suggested more than this one example.

  2. The use of sound in the clip is very effective. At the start when the room is breaking, the sound is very loud and shows destruction. Also, in the scene when The Doctor sees Rose again, they are running towards each other. This is a happy moment and some nice music starts playing. Then the big man Dalek comes along and the music instantly stops. The sound of the Dalek gun is traumatising as it penetrates the Doctor. This is a very loud sound.

  3. In the doctor who episode when it is introducing characters to the story quickly they use a non dieghic Intense drum and bell music to build an exiting feeling to the audience. They also pause part of the music when a chart speaks so what he says stands out more. They also soften part of it to show that the person they all are trying to find has a person relationship with the charter.

  4. The use of sound in doctor who varies a lot but with the same pitched sounds. The sound goes from quiet to loud when introducing different characters. it is affective when the music dramatically pauses when a character is going to start a conversation with someone. this could show the importance of a character when the music stops for a specific mountain of speech.

  5. most movies and tv shows use sounds alongside visuals to further expand our insight into the characters life and situation. for example, in the doctor who clip, sad slow music is used to show the audience how the girl feels at that present moment. basically non diegetic sounds are used in reference to the visuals and explain it when words can not.

    1. This is a very vague comment and does not address specific examples in any of the clips we watched in class.

  6. the produces of doctor who effectively use sound to construct there visuals and convey them to the audience. he use of non-diegetic sounds at the beginning help draw in the audience as key characters are introduced. Using deep voices helps build tension and excitement throughout, and then dims down when diegetic sounds are played, in order to help them stand out and assist the pictures on screen with creating an entertaining story for viewers.

  7. the uses of music in different scenes is very fitting toward the events going on. For example, at the start, when the building is getting destroyed, the sounds effect is of one that will boost adrenaline, which fits the mood as the characters will be killed as they do not escape. This is effective as the viewer's attention will be easily caught, helping them become engaged more in the events of the show.

  8. In the scene where Rose and the Doctor are reunited non diegetic soundtrack music is used to emphasise the positive feeling given from them finally being reunited, the scene is played out slow as the two run towards each other with looks of joy and excitement on their face and drama is created with the use of the Dalek's laser sound where the mood suddenly changes
